10 Restaurant Franchise Brands to Compare in Saudi Arabia

A practical shortlist for comparing concepts, territory rights and your role as an operator.

Publisher disclosure: Russo's publishes this guide and is one of the ten brands discussed. This is an editorial selection, not an independent league table, investment recommendation or list of confirmed available franchises. Numbering is for navigation, not a ranking of returns or quality.

Start with the ownership route, not the logo

When comparing restaurant franchise brands in Saudi Arabia, first ask who holds the rights and whether new applicants can participate. A brand may have many restaurants without offering a franchise to an individual buyer. Others publish enquiry channels but still need to approve your market, capital and experience.

This selection covers pizza, burgers, chicken, sandwiches and shawarma, plus Russo's pizza-and-Italian-kitchen concept. We chose brands with official operator information or public franchise enquiry resources so readers can check the evidence. We have not verified open Saudi territories for any competitor. The operating questions below are our editorial analysis, not statements supplied by those brands.

01 / Pizza

Domino's

Alamar identifies itself as a master franchise operator for Domino's in the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan region, with headquarters in Saudi Arabia. Official brand or operator source.

What to compare

For a pizza-focused proposal, examine pickup flow, delivery staffing and production capacity. Ask the rights holder whether any ownership route is available in your intended city; an operating store network does not establish an open franchise territory.

02 / Pizza and sides

Pizza Hut

Americana reports Pizza Hut operations in Saudi Arabia and describes its development relationship with the brand. Official brand or operator source.

What to compare

Use this as a pizza-menu comparison. Ask which restaurant formats and ownership arrangements can actually be considered. Do not transfer fees or investment figures from another country into a Saudi budget.

03 / Chicken quick service

KFC

KFC is part of Americana Restaurants' brand portfolio. Official brand or operator source.

What to compare

Compare the kitchen workflow and sourcing needs of a chicken-led concept with a pizza restaurant. Territory rights and participation require direct confirmation.

04 / Burger quick service

Hardee's

Americana describes its longstanding relationship with Hardee's and its restaurant operations in the region. Official brand or operator source.

What to compare

Consider how a burger-focused kitchen differs from a full Italian kitchen. Confirm the local operating structure before treating the brand as an available investment.

05 / Quick service

McDonald's

McDonald's Saudi Arabia identifies Riyadh International Catering Company and Ali Reza Food Services Company as franchise rights holders for different parts of the Kingdom. Official brand or operator source.

What to compare

The distinction matters: brand presence is not the same as an opportunity for a new independent applicant. Verify any proposed route with the authorized local organization before paying an intermediary or evaluating a site.

06 / Fast food

Herfy

Herfy publishes a franchise enquiry page and asks candidates to share their background and area of interest. Official brand or operator source.

What to compare

Ask whether the proposed city fits its current development plans. Request the applicable format, training responsibilities, supplier requirements and commercial terms in writing. A public enquiry channel is an invitation to ask, not approval to open.

07 / Shawarma quick service

Shawarmer

Shawarmer's franchise site describes its Riyadh origins and provides a franchise contact and brand profile. Official brand or operator source.

What to compare

Compare a focused shawarma menu with the broader preparation needs of pizza and pasta. Discuss management training, approved ingredients and the proposed catchment area. Confirm current terms directly; older brochures should not substitute for current documents.

08 / Burger quick service

Burgerizzr

Burgerizzr publishes a franchise page with a candidate enquiry process. Official brand or operator source.

What to compare

Review the restaurant format and operating responsibilities for your chosen market. Ask for substantiation of any growth claim you use in your own business plan, and separate a brand's expansion ambitions from your site's likely performance.

09 / Sandwiches

Subway

Subway announced a Saudi master franchise agreement with Alhokair in November 2021. This is historical evidence of a development arrangement, not verification of current applicant availability. Official brand or operator source.

What to compare

A sandwich concept offers a different menu and kitchen model to assess. Confirm today's authorized contact, available formats and territory rules. Do not assume an announced opening target was achieved or remains current.

10 / New York-style pizza and Italian kitchen

Russo's New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen

Russo's presents a chef-founded pizza and Italian restaurant concept, with Saudi development inquiries subject to territory, candidate and site review. This guide does not claim an existing Saudi restaurant or available exclusive rights. Russo's Saudi market guide.

What to compare

Compare a full kitchen serving pizza, pasta and other Italian dishes with a narrower quick-service concept. Discuss dine-in, takeaway, delivery and catering separately. International candidates need $1 million or more in liquid capital and $2 million or more in net worth for review. These are qualification thresholds in USD, not a total opening-cost quote.

Choose a Saudi city before choosing a property

A Riyadh proposal and a Jeddah proposal should not share an untested sales forecast. Start with the neighborhoods your team knows. For Dammam or Al Khobar, define the exact trade area rather than treating the Eastern Province as one catchment.

Visit potential sites during lunch and dinner. Record parking, pickup access, nearby dining choices and delivery routes. Ask landlords about kitchen extraction, utilities, storage and permitted works. Compare the demands of a full dining room with a takeaway-focused unit before choosing a format.

Questions to take to every brand

  • Who holds the rights, and can my proposed city be considered?
  • Which fees and obligations apply specifically to this country and format?
  • Who must attend training, where does it happen, and who pays for travel?
  • Which suppliers and menu adaptations require approval?
  • Who will manage daily operations and supervise additional locations?
  • What documents and independent advice do I need before committing?

Request written answers and a site-specific budget. Do not use U.S. franchise fees, historical sales or generic online investment estimates as a Saudi opening quote. No brand's sales figures should be treated as your expected profit.

Considering Russo's for your Saudi ownership plan?

Considering a burger, chicken or sandwich franchise? Compare it with a pizza and full Italian kitchen concept before choosing. Think about the meals you want to serve, the kitchen skills your team will need and whether your site suits dine-in, takeaway, delivery or catering. A broader menu creates more preparation and training responsibilities, so the right choice depends on your operating plan, not just the brand name.

Russo's combines New York-style pizza with a broader Italian kitchen. Evaluate the restaurant concept, training and support and franchisee interviews alongside your own operating experience. A halal-focused sourcing plan must be reviewed and approved for the particular market before restaurant-level claims are made.

Frequently asked questions

Are all ten brands accepting new Saudi franchisees?

No. This guide distinguishes existing operators, public enquiry channels and a proposed-market review. Contact each authorized brand representative to confirm current rights and applicant requirements.

Why are competitor investment figures not listed?

We have not verified comparable, current Saudi-specific investment schedules for these brands. Quoting a U.S. fee or an old global estimate would create a misleading comparison.

Is Russo's ranked above the other brands?

No. The list is not ordered by quality, growth or expected returns. Russo's is the publisher, and readers should evaluate each concept independently.
